Wedding Quilt

A bit of a hard project to photograph...a quilt that Vicky and I made together for friends who got married. We didn't have much time together to make it and wanted to go for a less rigid design. Firmly based on turquoise blue (a favourite colour of the bride) including different tones of blue and grey with floral designs, stripes, blocks of colour etc. The actual quilting used a mix of swirls and flowing lines to give the whole thing texture. We embroidered a little message on the corner to finish it off.

A Robin for Henry

Just a quick post. A contribution for a book put together by my sister. The idea was to get friends together to make two "name books" for Liz's twins Henry and William. I was designated "R" and so here is what I made. I was particularly fond of the eyes - sewn on super tight, but also pretty small so hopefully not a choking hazard! Vicky did an amazing Iguana for William, so hopefully there will be photos of that to post soon - it really was amazing!

Book for Valentin

Another "name book", this time one from a couple of years ago. This one was a family effort by my sisters, my mum and me for the son of a family friend who are German (incase you were wondering why letters and pictures don't quite correspond to the English language!). It was a fun project to do together and I think we may have to get our thinking caps on for another one soon as the little chap will be joined by another sibling soon.

Name Book

In the past my sister's and I, and also our very talented Mum have worked on a few joint projects making name books for various friend's babies. I actually stole the idea from another friend's creative Mother. Tomorrow a friend's baby will celebrate his 1st Birthday and at a celebratory brunch today I presented him (well, more so his parents) with my very first solo stab at one. The books spells out his name (Philip III) with the corresponding images each representing something of an Alaskan nature. I used a mixture of applique and embroidery and feel fairly happy with the result.

I uploaded the pictures backwards for some reason. Oops. But it kind of took a while so I am going to leave it if that's OK.

The polar bear and the salmon are my favourite.
